Miguel Serrat started playing Latin percussion as a young boy. He studied Latin Percussion, Rhythm, Afro-Caribbean Rhythms and Merengue/Salsa Ensemble with local Latin percussion legends. He continued his studies and by the age of sixteen was playing all over town with friends in small unnamed bands where he experimented with other instruments otherwise unavailable to him. He devotedly played and competed in a number of local rhythm competition; some of which he won and gain a world of praises in his local town from more experienced players.

While attend high school and college, he fell in love with the guitar after listening to some of the masters. But the inability to make a smooth transition from percussion to guitar led him to other instruments which a brief amount of time he mastered. He trained on the piano, accordion, recorder, keyboard and the sax. But he continued his affection with the guitar. As time went on, Miguel started to meet, as well as play with other players and learned different music styles.

Miguel began playing in a number of Latin groups in the upper Bronx/Yonkers/Westchester region of New York. He played in weddings, cubs and other venues for sometimes but decide to take time off to concentrate on college. During this time he was thought classical guitar for a short period of time in college (and privately). Miguel also studied harmony, theory, composition and music production.

He then began assisting on the creation of cover demos. He participated in the creation of interesting projects with his collaboration with underground producer and jazz saxophonist Ernesto Valdoza who was his gateway to the word of jazz. After his friend decided to move away from active music, he began, recording and producing his own music

Miguel Serrat has been an active player for years though not always as a recording artist. As young boy he developed an unequal passion for the arts. Miguel is a Composer, Songwriter, and Multi-instrumentalist with several self-produced albums under his name.
